1. Name of the Head of the Department – Dr Anjula Jain
2. Establishment History:-

The Department of Zoology came into existence in July 1965 to cope with increasing demand of science education. Dr Y. Purang, Dr. K.C. Singhal, Prof O.P. Garg, Dr. S. K. Sharma, Dr. Swadesh Sharma and Dr. Ranjana Dhawan worked as HOD. Presently Dr. Anjula Jain working as Head of the Department from 2011. Dr. Geeta Bansal, Dr. Bindu Sharma, Dr. Vandana Garg, Smt. Bharti Anand and Dr. Praveen Kumar joined the department joined the Department of Zoology, Deva  Nagri. College, Meerut after the transfer from NREC, College, Khurja as faculty member selected through the U.P. Higher Education Service Commission Allahabad.

Imparting knowledge of all aspects of Animals (Non Chordates and Chordates), Morphology, Physiology, Endocrinology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Embryology, Fishery Sciences and Environmental Sciences etc. Department has signed two MOUs for Imparting knowledge of Fish farming. The faculty members are actively engaged in various research fields.

The Department of Zoology has one undergraduate and two post graduate well equipped labs. One seminar room and one well equipped lab for P.G. students and research scholars. There are two well set museum for non - chordates and chordates for the U.G. and P.G. students.

Department has a digitalized library of about 1800 books for P.G., research scholars and faculty members. Department has a well-furnished animal house for research purposes.

The Department of Zoology provide different facilities to students like as Digitalized library for P.G. students, E- Classroom / Smart classes being used for U.G. and P.G. Students, Department provide Internet facility to the students also.

In the department there are regular seminar of P.G. students are conducted using teaching aids like projector, charts and models. The department of zoology has Aristotle Zoological Association, under this association the department organized different activities. The Department of Zoology imparting knowledge of all aspects of Animal Sciences, Physiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Embryology and Environmental Sciences. The Department of Zoology provide information regarding maintenance, fish diseases, contamination and better production of the harvest.

3. Publication and Research:-

There are 30 - Research papers published by faculty members in national and international journals, 29 - Research finding presented in different conferences and seminars in last five years, 5 - Books and 3 - chapters were published. There are 46 - Workshop/Seminar/Webinar attended by faculty members, 25 - Ph.D. awarded so far, presently 5 - Ph.D. students are registered under the supervision of faculty members.

4. Achievement –

Students getting top positions in university merit list like Sakshi Goswami (Gold Medallist) in 2017.  Every year students are selected in CSIR/UGC – JRF/LS.

6. Scholarships:-

Guru Dakshina Scholarship – Sakhi Goswami in 2018 and Senior Research Fellowship (UGC) – Ajay Kumar for Ph. D.

7. Course Offered:-

There are three years B. Sc. Course for U. G. Students. Two years M. Sc. Course for P. G. Students (under semester system) with the specialisation of Fish & Fisheries and Ph.D. in various fields of research.

The Department of Zoology has follow the rules and regulation of C.C.S. University, Meerut. All the admissions are made by the merit list provided by university. University regularly provide merit list according to vacant seats. The merit list confirmation was provided by the university to the students through SMS.
