DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS
Department was established in the year 1958 with Bachelor of Science discipline. Late Shri Ram Nath Singh Tyagi was the founder head of the department. He also worked as officiating principal of the college. From July,1991 to July 1999, the department was run by Dr. V. K. Agarwal, reader, Department of Mathematics with the help of tutors. The tutors had been appointed by college management with their own resources.
In May,1999 Dr. Ram Bali Singh, selected by Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Services Commission, Prayagraj joined the department as a lecturer and thereafter Dr. Krishna Pal Singh joined in Sep, 1999. Dr. Krishna Pal Singh got retirement from service in June, 2011. Mr. Shashank Baghel, selected by Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Services Commission,Prayagraj joined the department in October, 2017 in the capacity of assistant professor.
Statistics has its applications in various fields such as Science, Arts, Astrology, Astronomy, Social science etc. Statistical data play key role in policy making and implementation by the government and non government sectors. Datacollected on vital events give idea about different characteristics of the population of any region which helps policy makers to implement social welfare schemes on one hand and the other, statisticians provide information for quality control of products, enhancement of DA of employees, inflation rates, determination of LIC policy premiums, retirement benefits (pensions) etc. Also, scientists need statistical data for weather forecasting, demarcation of natural/manmade disaster prone areas and space programmes. Besides this, data on commuters is needed for the improvement of transportation facilities. "Statistics without Science have no roots and Science without Statistics has no fruits".
Motto of the department is to make students good human beings useful for the nation and society.
The department has a classroom cum laboratory facilitated with LCD projector, sound system, podium, computers, refrigerator, water purifier and internet.
Faculty members have published nine Research papers in national and international journals of repute and attended Twenty five seminars/webinars along with three training programmes.
Our students are performing well in academics and producing excellent results. Besides this our students have great achievements in sports, NCC, NSS & extra-curricular activities conducted by the college.
Our students Rohit Kumar and Ritik Singh participated in Republic Day parade in the years 2008 and 2021 respectively. Abhijit Singh has successfully completed one month NCC training camp at Indian Military Academy, Dehradoon, Uttarakhand in the academic session 2020-21.
- Our students have achieved the considerable not only in India but at the world, Students like Mrs. Huma Zaidi of 2002 Batch, working as Leader, Product management-Search, Browse, Voice and Visual, San Francisco, California, USA and Major RiturajAhlawat of Batch 2006, posted with 4th Gorkha Rifles, Siliguri, West Bengal. AmitNayal of 2016 Batch received Guru Dakshina Scholarship in 2016 given by Alumni Association, Deva Nagri College, Meerut.
